NA 2.2 Video: The Danger of the Single Story

Topic Progress:

“The problem with stereotypes is not that they are wrong, but that they tell only a single story.”
Chimamanda Adichie

A Single Story results when the same stereotype or story gets told over and over again about a person, a people, or a place. That one story becomes the only story we know. What are the stories we tell over and over about Native Americans? Are they noble? Spiritual? Underrepresented? Underachieving? Disadvantaged?

Watch this TED Talk video in which novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells her story—a story that invites us to reconsider some of the stories we tell and the stories that we ourselves live within. The video is about 20 minutes long.
