STEM 3.6 Underrepresentation in STEM

In the photo album media activity (section 2.14), you were introduced to five people from populations that are underrepresented in STEM careers. As you read in their stories, there is a gross disparity of participation within most STEM disciplines. Not enough women, Blacks, Hispanics, American Indians, and persons with disabilities are choosing careers in STEM.

You also learned that there is a great demand for STEM jobs, skills, and knowledge. One way to help meet the demand is to increase the participation of all underrepresented populations.
